Carly Vanderheyden (She/Her, Green Bay, WI) graduated from the University of Iowa with honors, earning a BFA in Dance, BA in Health and Human Physiology, and Certificate in Arts Entrepreneurship. While pursuing her BFA, Carly performed works by Autumn Eckman, Marc Macaranas, Armando Duarte, Eloy Barragàn, Chafin Seymour, and Jesse Factor. In 2017, Carly was featured in Martha Graham’s “Helios: Acts of Light” restaged by Jesse Factor at The Martha Graham Dance Company’s University Partners Showcase at The Joyce Theatre. Carly has trained in intensive programs including Orsolina28, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, DanceWorks Chicago, the Martha Graham School, American Dance Festival, and the Kirov Academy of Ballet. Carly is an American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum certified ballet teacher for Pre-Primary through Level Five, as well as a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher. Carly joined The Big Muddy Dance Company’s Trainee Program for the 2017-2018 Season, where she also worked as the company’s Marketing Intern. She joined the company in 2018 and has since performed works by Shannon Alvis, Elizabeth Corbett, Thang Dao, Norbert De La Cruz III, Joshua Manculich, Dexandro Montalvo, and Joshua L. Peugh. Carly has been featured in collaborations with organizations such as the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, St. Louis Shakespeare Festival, Jazz St. Louis, as well as the Fashion Footwear Association of New York for their 2019 Fundraising Gala. Beyond her dancing, Carly is a freelance photographer and graphic designer, as well as a teaching artist and rehearsal director at the Center of Creative Arts (COCA) and St. Louis Academy of Dance.
